VoteRiders marked its 12th anniversary with a robust National Voter ID Month of Action across the country. The initiative saw remarkable success thanks to the collective efforts of partners, volunteers, supporters, and voters.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Highlights included: targeted outreach efforts such as letter-writing campaigns, one-on-one assistance training for volunteers, and fundraising achievements through collaborative partnerships. VoteRiders staff educated partners on state-specific voter ID laws while digital partnerships and in-person events further amplified the importance of securing acceptable ID ahead of critical elections. Noteworthy moments included collaborating with organizations like the Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters in Florida and participating in Second Chance Month events in Georgia.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

VoteRiders celebrated our 12th anniversary with a jam-packed <\/span>National Voter ID Month of Action<\/span><\/a>!<\/span><\/p>\n

States across the nation continue to pass more restrictive and confusing rules about <\/span>what ID is needed to vote<\/span><\/a>. It can take weeks or even months to secure an ID, so April is a critical time for folks to make sure they have everything they need to vote in the remaining primaries and in the upcoming November general election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to our incredible community of <\/span>partners<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>volunteers<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>supporters<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>voters<\/span><\/a>, our National Voter ID Month of Action was a tremendous success.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of our proudest moments include:<\/span><\/p>\n

Over 200 VoteRiders volunteers, including many from our partners at the Arizona Students Association<\/a>, wrote almost 9,000 letters to voters in <\/span>Arizona<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Georgia<\/span><\/a> containing critical information about upcoming elections and state-specific voter ID rules.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

We trained new volunteers on how to provide <\/span>one-on-one voter ID assistance<\/span><\/a> to voters in need.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

Our field staff in eight states hosted a series of <\/span>Voter ID Informational Briefings <\/span><\/a>throughout the month, engaging upwards of 200 partner organizations<\/a> and the media on state-specific voter ID laws and VoteRiders\u2019 <\/span>free voter ID information<\/span><\/a> and services. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

We got the word out about voter ID and highlighted our free services through various digital partnerships including with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>When We All Vote<\/span><\/a>, i am a voter<\/a>, the <\/span>League of Women Voters<\/span><\/a>, and Lamb Chop<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"12\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We organized in-person events in communities across the country to offer <\/span>free ID information<\/span><\/a> and help to any voter in need. And we got a special birthday gift from our friends at <\/span>Pizza to the Polls<\/span><\/a>, who sent pizzas to several of our community events to share with attendees!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

For example, in Florida, <\/span>VoteRiders\u2019 Florida Coordinator<\/span><\/a> teamed up with the <\/span>Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters<\/span><\/a> to educate returning citizens on their voting rights, the statewide constitutional amendments on the ballot this year, and how to obtain a state ID for free.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Georgia, VoteRiders celebrated National Voter ID Month of Action at a Second Chance Month career conference and job fair with <\/span>Women on the Rise<\/span><\/a>. VoteRiders\u2019 <\/span>Georgia Organizer & Faith Coordinator<\/span><\/a> provided returning citizens with information about what ID they need to vote in Georgia<\/a> and how VoteRiders can help them secure documentation for free. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, VoteRiders\u2019 <\/span>Georgia Coordinator<\/span><\/a> joined <\/span>Mi Famila Vota<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>Georgia Muslim Voter Project<\/span><\/a> at <\/span>Georgia Gwinnett College<\/span><\/a> to answer students\u2019 questions about what kind of ID they need to vote in Georgia and where to turn if they need free voter ID help<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"12<\/p>\n

In Ohio, VoteRiders\u2019 <\/span>Ohio Organizer<\/span><\/a> spoke to <\/span>Cleveland State University<\/span><\/a> students about Ohio\u2019s voter ID requirements<\/a> and the various ways students can take action with VoteRiders<\/a> in the upcoming school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last but certainly not least, thanks to the generosity of our <\/span>donors<\/span><\/a>, we raised more than $11,000 to support our Ohio work through our partnership with <\/span>Bake Back Better<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With just six months left until some of the most consequential elections in history, we\u2019re putting everything we\u2019ve got into ensuring that every voice is heard, and every voter is empowered to determine the future of our democracy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
